(F.A. Cup Semi-Final (replay)- special
report)
Wednesday 27nd July 2005 – Issue No.14
Portsmouth will wonder how this one got away from them, another stunning game from the under-dogs produced another 1~1 result,
And it was Todorov again who put Pompey infront after 27mins,
But United’s hard work paid off as Roy Keane got their equalizer early in the 2nd half.
Extra-Time saw Portsmouth take the lead once more – and it seemed as if the under-dogs were going to the F.A. Cup Final – after Buxton’s 96 minute strike,
But again 5mins into the 2nd period of Extra-Time Ruud Van-Nistelrooy came to the rescue and slotted home a goal to make it 2~2.
It came down to penalties:
United went first with Rooney scoring.
Burton for Portsmouth made it 1~1.
Van-Nistelrooy made it 2~1.
Buxton saw his penalty saved.
Alan Smith made it 3~1 as United scored their 3rd successive penalty.
Then Tim Howard somehow saved Todorov’s penalty.
Ryan Giggs could seal the match with his penalty – and he converted it with ease.
UNITED WON! 4~1 after penalties.
